Plenty for Penty to smile about in Amsterdam!

19 year old Toby Penty produced a very mature performance in Amsterdam today to help England's men win their second game in the Thomas Cup qualifiers against Slovenia.

Penty followed England's top two men's singles players on court, both of who had completed victories with Rajiv Ouseph having beaten Iztok Utrosa 21-13 21-19 and Carl Baxter defeating Luka Petric 21-6 21-9.

Penty took on Roj Alen and despite falling 7-3 down in the first game he never lost confidence and drew level at 11-11 before winning eight straight points en route to a 21-15 win. Penty won the second game 21-11 to make the match score 3-0.

Victory was sealed before England’s senior players even went on court. Nathan Robertson partnered Marcus Ellis to a 21-4 21-9 victory over Matevz Bajuk and Ales Murn in just 14 minutes.

English National champions Chris Adcock and Andy Ellis won 21-12 21-18 to complete a 5-0 victory without dropping a game.

Team England tackle their final Group 3 match tomorrow night against the Czech Republic as they look to top the group and book their place in the knockout quarter-finals.
